PRIVACY POLICY

Binny's Tote Rental ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use binnys.ca or book a rental, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial law.

Information we collect

• Contact and booking details — your name, email address, phone number, delivery address, delivery notes, and the details of your order (package, dates, add-ons).
• Payment information — card payments are processed by Stripe. We do not see or store your full card number; we keep a payment reference and a saved payment token from Stripe to charge the rental and any agreed charges under our rental agreement.
• Communications — messages you send us by email, phone, text, or the on-site chat, and our replies.
• Technical and usage data — your IP address, browser and device information, the pages you view, and how you move through the booking flow. This is collected through a first-party cookie and basic analytics (see Cookies below).
• Agreement records — when you accept our rental agreement, we record the version, the time, and the IP address it was accepted from, as evidence of the contract.

How we use your information

• To take reservations, deliver and pick up totes, and service your rental.
• To process payments, deposits, refunds, and any charges under the rental agreement.
• To contact you about your order by email or text, including confirmations, reminders, and delivery coordination.
• To provide customer support and answer your questions.
• To understand and improve how our site and booking flow work, and to prevent fraud and abuse.
• To meet our legal and accounting obligations.
• To send occasional marketing emails — only if you have given express consent (see Marketing).

Cookies and analytics

We use first-party cookies only. We do not use third-party advertising cookies, and we do not sell your information.

• Necessary cookies keep the site working — for example, keeping you signed in to staff or order-lookup sessions and remembering your cookie choice. The site cannot function properly without these.
• Analytics cookie — a first-party identifier (binny_vid) that lets us measure, in aggregate, how visitors use the site so we can improve it. You can decline it in the cookie notice shown on your first visit, or by choosing “Necessary only.” Declining stops this cookie and the related analytics.

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking necessary cookies may prevent parts of the site from working.

Service providers we share with

We share personal information only with service providers that help us run our business, and only as needed to provide the service. These include Stripe (payment processing), our email and text-message providers (order and service messages), and mapping and geocoding services used to verify delivery addresses and distances. These providers may process information outside your province or Canada, and are required to protect it. We may also disclose information where required by law.

Marketing

We keep a mailing list of people who have given express consent — for example by requesting a free guide or opting in at checkout — and use it only to send occasional moving tips and Binny's updates, in line with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). You can withdraw your consent at any time with the one-click unsubscribe link in any marketing email or by contacting us. Withdrawing marketing consent does not affect the service messages needed to fulfill your order.

Retention

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above and to meet legal, tax, and dispute-resolution requirements, after which we securely delete or de-identify it.

Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may ask to access the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw a consent you previously gave. To make a request, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect personal information against loss, theft, and unauthorized access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and limit access to it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and revise the “Last updated” date above.
