Questions

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Everything you might want to know before you book. Still have a question? Ask Binny in the chat, or head to our contact page.

How does delivery work?

Delivery and pickup are included with every package. Choose your delivery date when you book — we drop the totes at your door and collect them when your rental ends.

How long can I keep the totes?

Every package is a 14-day rental as standard — plenty of time for most moves, with the totes dropped off up to 7 days before your move and picked up about a week after. Need longer? Add extra weeks any time at the flat weekly rate — during booking or by getting in touch.

Do I need to clean the totes before pickup?

Just give them a quick wipe-out if anything spilled and return them empty — we do the full cleaning and sanitizing after every rental.

Are the totes clean?

Yes. Every tote is cleaned and inspected between rentals, and lids are checked so everything closes securely.

How much fits in one tote?

Each 102-litre tote holds roughly one and a half medium cardboard boxes' worth — books, kitchen gear, clothes — and stacks without crushing what's below. Plan on about 16 medium boxes per 10 totes.

What if I damage or lose a tote?

Normal wear and tear is expected and covered. A lost, unreturned, or seriously damaged tote carries a replacement fee of at most $15 (a dolly is at most $100) — those are hard caps, no matter how long an item is out. If the totes aren't ready on pickup day we'll text and email you, and you have three days to arrange a new pickup before they're treated as not returned. Full details are in the rental agreement's Damage & Replacement Schedule.

Do I need tape or a box cutter?

No. Lids snap on and off by hand, and labelling cards are included so you can mark each tote's contents and destination room.

Where do you deliver?

We deliver throughout Barrie and the surrounding Simcoe County area at no extra charge. For addresses more than 50 km driving distance from our Barrie base, a travel charge of $0.50 per kilometre beyond the first 50 km applies, charged for each trip — the delivery and the pickup are billed separately. Moving? Your pickup can be a different address; both just need to be within 150 km driving distance of Barrie. The charge is calculated and shown before you pay, so there are no surprises (and for the common case where delivery and pickup are the same address, your total is unchanged). We deliver to physical street addresses only (no PO boxes).

How and when do I pay?

You enter your card securely through Stripe when you book, and it is pre-authorized for the full amount. Nothing is charged until 48 hours before your delivery date (bookings made within 48 hours of delivery are charged right away). Your card is saved only for any post-rental charges allowed by the rental agreement, such as damage or an approved extension.

What's your cancellation policy?

Cancel at least 48 hours before your delivery date for a full refund — just use the cancellation link in your confirmation email, or look up your order under Find My Order. Within 48 hours of delivery, give us a call and we'll help sort it out.

What size are the totes, and how many will I need?

Each tote is a rugged 102-litre plastic bin with a secure snap-on lid, holding roughly what 1.6 cardboard boxes hold. As a starting point: a single room or dorm takes about 10 totes, a one-bedroom apartment around 20, a large one-bedroom or small two-bedroom about 30, a two-bedroom home or three-bedroom condo about 45, and a three-bedroom home about 60. When in doubt, size up — running short mid-move is the one thing you can't fix on a Saturday. Not sure? Ask Binny in the chat and we'll help you size it.

Which towns and cities do you serve?

Our home base is Barrie, and we deliver across Simcoe County and nearby communities — including Innisfil, Orillia, Angus, Midhurst, Oro-Medonte, Bradford, Alliston, Wasaga Beach, Collingwood and Newmarket. See our service areas page for the details on each.

Why rent totes instead of buying cardboard boxes?

Rented totes arrive at your door ready to pack and disappear when you're done — no flattening boxes, no tape, no recycling run afterward. They stack securely without crushing, keep contents dry, and are sturdier for fragile items. You pay only for the weeks of your move.

Can I rent totes if I'm not moving?

Yes. A good share of our rentals have nothing to do with moving house. People use them to empty a kitchen before a renovation, clear surfaces before listing photos, hold things during a gap between closing dates, or pack away summer gear for the winter. They stack neatly in a garage or spare room and keep dust off your things while a project is underway. Same service either way — we drop off, you fill them, we collect when you're done.

What if my renovation runs longer than planned?

Just let us know and we'll extend by the week at a flat rate. Renovations almost always take longer than the quote says, so we'd rather you book a generous window from the start than have to extend partway through. If you're not sure how long you need, tell us what the project is and we'll suggest something realistic.

Can I use totes while my house is on the market?

Yes, and it's one of the most common non-moving reasons people call us. Most agents don't bring in a professional stager — they ask sellers to declutter, which means getting a good share of your belongings out of sight before the photographer arrives. The question nobody answers is where it all goes while you're still living there. Matching totes stacked tidily in one corner of the garage read as organised during a showing. Mismatched boxes don't. And when the house sells, your packing is already half done.

Can I store totes in a garage or basement?

Yes — they handle a damp garage or an Ontario winter far better than cardboard does. Three things worth doing: keep them off the floor on a pallet or shelf, since concrete sweats. Make sure everything is clean and fully dry before it goes in. And label the side rather than the lid, because stacked totes hide their lids. A few things we'd keep indoors instead: electronics, candles, musical instruments, photographs, and anything in glass that could freeze.
